The Preferences Wizard Explained

There are six sets of Preferences options available to you on the Preferences Wizard

The preferences you set will apply to NEW guidebooks that you create - they will not impact existing guidebooks

You can change your preferences at any time, as needed

#1 General Preferences

Preferences Wizard - section 1 General

  • Add Lesson Column Label Borders automatically adds a single line, 0.25-point weight frame around the Lesson page column headings in Facilitator guides
  • Put Synced Page Refs in Column 3 places Participant Guide page number references into Column 3 of the Facilitator Guide versus the default location, which is in Column 1

    • If the Facilitator Guide has only 2 columns, then this setting is ignored and the page references are placed into Column 1

  • Automatic Check for Updates alerts you when an update is available

  • Start Modules on Odd # Pages sets each new Module as a new section - and the first page will be an odd numbered page

  • Automatically Insert Lesson Time Block inserts a Lesson Time block immediately below the Lesson name on the first page of a new Lesson

  • Automatically Insert Lesson Objective Block inserts an Objective block either immediately below the Lesson name on the first page of a new Lesson - or below the Time block if that is also being used
  • Include Revision Date inserts the revision date info on the Acknowledgments page - and repeats in the odd page footers
  • Include Copyright inserts your Copyright info on the Acknowledgments page - and repeats in the odd page footers
  • Add Slide Borders adds a single line, 0.25-point weight frame around imported slide images

 #2 Slide Numbering

Preferences Wizard-Slide Numbering

Restart by Module

  • Each Module’s slide numbering will begin at 1 and will continue sequentially within the Module

  • You may want to use this setting when each Module in your course has a unique slide deck

FYI
  • Absolute and Restart by Module are mutually exclusive numbering options

  • It is not possible to do both within the same Guidebook

Sequential

  • This is the default method of slide numbering

  • Imported slides are consecutively numbered from 1 to X

  • If you insert new slide blocks in between imported slides, update the numbering by clicking Update All Fields on the LeaderGuide Pro ribbon

 Absolute

Use Absolute if ...

  • you are going to skip some slides or if you are importing slides from multiple files ...

  • and you want the slide numbering to represent the actual PowerPoint slide numbers.

⚠️ Do Not Manually Alter the Slide Numbers inserted by LGPro

  • Manually changing the slide numbers will remove the automatic numbering functionality that LeaderGuide Pro provides, resulting in A LOT more work for you because you will then have to renumber every slide yourself.

#3 Column Headings

LGP Preferences Wizard_3-1

Edit Column Headings at Guidebook Start

 Column Headings

  • These settings apply exclusively to Facilitator Guides

  • These labels appear at the top of the the table row columns on Lesson pages

  • Edit them here and they become your default setting for all new Facilitator Guides

  • Alternatively, these labels can also be edited when creating a new guidebook - when changes are needed just for a specific project

 #4 Script Icons

Script Icons

These are smaller, optional, Instructional Cue icons that you can insert into columns 2 or 3 of the Content Blocks on your Lesson pages

  • Insert by clicking the ICues button on the LGPro ribbon and then using the ICues Task Pane

  • You can adjust the default setting to the height you prefer
  • Changes apply to new ICues that you add
  • To resize existing ICues already in a guidebook, use the LGPro Special>Resize and Border Images function

If you change the ICue icon height to less than 0.25 inches (0.635 cm)

  • and the icon is the first character in a paragraph when inserted

  • then Word will treat the icon as a bullet and will indent the paragraph when you click Return
  • You can remove the indent by clicking Word's Undo button

⚠️ Do Not Insert ICues into Column 1

  • Column 1 holds:
    • Content Block Icons - inserted by clicking Content Blocks on the LGPro ribbon
    • Slide Number references - when slides are imported
    • Synced Participant Guide page number references - when guidebooks are synced for page numbers

  • Your Revision Date will appear on the Acknowledgements page (the inside front cover) of each Guidebook and will repeat in the footer on the odd numbered pages

  • You can customize the stem of the revision label here
  • For example, instead of “Revision Date:” you could edit it to
    • Rev. #:  or
